Why We Sing the Kind of Music that We Sing
Music is a very important issue in today’s society. Often a decision to attend a church is determined by the music that is found in that church. Because of this very important truth, we would like to share with you why we sing the music that we sing here at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Music is mentioned over 460 times in the Bible. In many of these instances music is mentioned as a direct form of worship to God. God has placed great emphasis on music in the Bible. God has outlined some principles in the Bible that we should use as a guide to determine if the music that we hear is appropriate or God-honoring.
The most important principle is does the music honor and glorify God. Our music ought to reflect God’s character. It ought to be pleasing to Him. The first question we should ask ourselves is “Does the music I listen to honor God?”
Secondly, our music ought to be separated from the world. There ought to be a distinct difference between the music that is in the world and the music that is in the church. Contemporary Christian Music tries to erase that line. They adopt the philosophy that we need to be like the world in order to win the world. We at Emmanuel Baptist Church believe that our music needs to be distinctly different than that of the world.
Finally, our music ought to be for worship. It is the desire of those in the music ministry of Emmanuel Baptist Church to glorify God, edify believers, and reach the unsaved. Our goal is not to entertain, but to glorify God and worship Him.
Our music here at Emmanuel Baptist Church is strictly guided by these three principles. We pray and trust that our music will always be honoring to God, distinct from the world, and aimed at the heart of the individual.

S.T.A.R.S.
The young people of today will be the leaders of tomorrow. They will shape the world for the generation following them the same as we have shaped the world that they live in. Our goal here at EBC is to tie each teenage to the Word as God has required. Our desire for each young person is to develop a Biblical mindset which will direct the steps of their life. At EBC we accomplish this by teaching, discipline, and example.
Every Sunday night the EBC S.T.A.R.S. (Surrendered Teens And Ready Servants) youth group meets at 6:30. The time is spent by first game time, and then a time of preaching. We are done around 8:00.
Each month the youth group has a teen activity. We do a variety of fun things around and outside of Winchester. Each activity is on the calander.
We hope that you will prayerfully consider bringing your teen to the EBC youth group. We feel that God has blessed us with a great group of teens that desire to follow the Lord in whatever He would have for them.
